Privacy Policy

TermTab is a browser extension that replaces your new tab page with a customizable start page. It is designed to keep your data on your own device. This policy explains what the extension does and does not do with your information.

Information TermTab stores

TermTab saves your settings locally in your browser using the standard extension storage API (chrome.storage.local). This includes the search engines you have enabled, your default engine, the order of your engines, any custom engines you add, your pinned shortcuts, and your most recently selected engine. This information is created only by your own actions in the extension and is used only to remember your setup across new tabs and browser sessions.

Information TermTab does not collect

TermTab does not collect, log, or transmit any personal or sensitive information to the developer or to any server operated by the developer. There are no user accounts, no analytics, no trackers, and no advertising. Your settings never leave your device, and the developer has no access to them.

Third-party services

• Site icons (favicons): To show small icons next to your search engines and shortcuts, TermTab requests icon images from DuckDuckGo's public icon service (icons.duckduckgo.com). When an icon is requested, that service receives only the domain name of the site whose icon is being displayed.
• Searches and AI features: When you run a search or use an AI button, TermTab opens the search engine or AI service you selected and passes the text you typed. Those services are operated by third parties, and their handling of your query is governed by their own privacy policies.

Data sharing and sale

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your information with anyone. We do not have it.

Permissions we request

• Storage: used only to save your settings locally, as described above.
• Access to duckduckgo.com and duck.ai: used only for the optional “Duck.ai” button, to place the query you typed into the Duck.ai chat box on your behalf. It is not used to read other page content or for any other purpose.

Children

TermTab is a general-purpose utility, is not directed to children, and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we will post the revised version at this page and update the “Last updated” date above.
